WEATHER: Hot, sunny, repeat


Sun, sun, sun. That’s the forecast for the next few days according to the National Weather Service. There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight, otherwise we can expect the highs to be near near 100 and the lows at night to be in the low to mid-60s. The Fourth of July is expected to reach 100 during the day and 68 at night, so make sure sunscreen and water are included in your holiday plans.

LOCAL NEWS: Snowbird draw attention of Utah County Commissioners


PROVO -- The July 14 vote by the Mountain Accord has caught the attention of Utah County commissioners, who discovered only a month ago about the group’s intentions in American Fork Canyon. Snowbird Resort, one member of the accord, owns several thousand acres in American Fork Canyon. It is seeking the support of the Mountain Accord for a land trade that would give it contiguous property -- and the ability to develop the resort -- in Utah County.
The resorts hopes to trade 416 acres of National Forest Service property in Utah County for 1,400 acres owned by Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon. READ MORE HERE.

NATIONAL NEWS: Justice Department says gender identity determines restroom use

LOCAL SPORTS: BYU runner sets school record in 800-meters


EUGENE, Ore. – BYU’s Shaquille Walker set another school record in the 800-meter semifinals at the USATF Championships last weekend and placed sixth overall a day later in the finals, according to information from BYU Athletic Communications. "It was an amazing experience and a great way to start bringing this year's season to a close," Walker said. "I'm beyond grateful for the coaches, friends, family and staff that I had supporting me and I am excited for the future." READ MORE HERE.

LOCAL BUSINESS: Utah in top 10 for clean energy jobs


In the first quarter of 2015, nearly 40 clean energy or clean transportation projects were announced in 19 states. Together, these projects are expected to create more than 9,800 jobs, according to an analysis by Environmental Entrepreneurs, a national non-partisan group. Utah ranked as No. 8 in hiring for clean energy jobs, largely due to a spike in solar projects. Georgia, California, and Texas led the nation in job announcements. READ MORE HERE.
