LOCAL BUSINESS: American Biotech Labs earns top honors in Utah - again

ALPINE -- For the fourth time in nine years, the Best of State program's independent judges have recognized American Biotech Labs as Utah's top company in the Medical Innovation category. American Biotech Labs LLC (ABL), developer of a new class of products based on the company's patented nano-catalytic SilverSol Technology, today announced that the company has won the 2015 Utah Best of State award. LOCAL NEWS: Provo property taxes get help from Provo City Schools refinancing debt

PROVO -- The Provo City School District expects to save about $3.4 million in interest payments after refinancing two bonds. Provo School property taxes include a levy for its bonded debt, which is adjusted each year. Due to the issuance of new bonds, which were voted on in 2014, the overall GO debt levy will increase for tax year 2015. However, the increase will be offset by the reduced payments resulting from the refinancing. READ MORE HERE.


LOCAL NEWS: Provo bans open fires in foothills

PROVO -- Effective immediately, Provo Fire & Rescue has issued an open fire restriction for the foothills on the east bench and all areas of the Provo City watershed including South Fork. These restrictions are implemented due to the high fuel levels in the foothills and the decreasing fuel moisture content, according to a statement from local officials. READ MORE HERE.

LOCAL WEATHER: More rain likely through Friday

PROVO -- Forecasters are calling for a 20 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms after noon today under otherwise mostly sunny skies. The high will be near 86. The chance of thunderstorms continues tonight. Friday is expected bring about the same kind of weather, according to the National Weather Service. Highs in most areas around the Utah Valley will be in the mid-80s with lows falling to the high 50s at night. Watch for sunny skies on Saturday with the high near 89 and the low at night around 60 degrees.
